Na een studie naar de Ensō cirkel, een cirkel die binnen de Wabi Sabi filosofie staat voor imperfectie en het omarmen daarvan heb ik na een intensieve medische en onzekere periode voor mijn examenproject mijn eigen versie van de Ensō cirkel gemaakt. Deze is vervolgens vertaald naar een driedimensionaal object waarbij ik de vorm van een stoel als archetype gebruikt heb. De stoel die gewoonlijk de functie heeft om gewicht te dragen en sterk te zijn symboliseert hier de kwetsbaarheid en imperfectie van het lichaam.

Dit werk is onderdeel van mijn afstudeerproject aan de AKI Academy for Art & Design, Enschede en is gekozen voor de expositie in het Rijksmuseum Twenthe die is te zien van 22 juni t/m 27 augustus 2023.

After studying the Ensō circle, a circle that represents imperfection and embracing it within the Wabi Sabi philosophy, I created my own version of the Ensō circle for my exam project. After a intense medical period with lots of uncertainty. Subsequently, it was translated into a three-dimensional object, using the form of a chair as an archetype. The chair, which typically serves the function of bearing weight and being strong, symbolizes the vulnerability and imperfection of the body.

This work is part of my graduation project at the AKI Academy for Art & Design, Enschede, and has been selected for the exhibition at the Rijksmuseum Twenthe, which will be on display from June 22nd to August 27th, 2023.
